Prom Dos and Don'ts
Dos, Dont's, and Prom Etiquette
- Use nice words like please and thanks.
- Use the silverware properly. You start using the outside fork
and work
- your way in.
- Don't use the wrong bread plate.
- Turn your fork upside down on the salad plate when you are
finished.
- Turn your coffee cup upside down if you do not want any coffee.
- Put your napkin on your lap. Especially to keep from spilling on
your prom
- dress.
- Don't put your napkin on the table until you are finished eating.
- Place your napkin on the back of your chair if you are leaving to
use the ladies
- room.
- Wear a wrap or shawl over a strapless prom dress.
- Don't wear rings over your gloves.
- Wear your bracelet over your gloves.
- Take off your gloves during dinner.
- Don't remove your gloves at any other time than dinner.
- Don't spray hairspray anywhere other than the bathroom.
- Make all entrances with your date.
- Don't walk ahead of or behind your date.
- Wear body glitter so you sparkle during your grand dance.
- Drink lots of water to prevent bloating and flushing
out of your
- system.
- Follow the head waiter to your table with your date behind you.
- Don't drink and drive.
- Go to prom with a date who will be kind and pull out your chair at dinner.
- Don't refresh your lipstick more than one time at the table.
- Reserve using your make-up powder in the ladies room only.
- Reserve the first and last dance for your date.
- Don't forget to tell your date how handsome he looks.
- Go with the girls to prom dance if you don't have a date. Think of it this
way,
- "less stress".
- Dance with others at your prom dance when asked however, do not
abandon
- your date the whole night.
- Be on time. Don't keep your nervous prom date waiting.
- Be the first person your date sees when he knocks on the door.
- Don't forget your dates boutonniere.
- Wear your best smelling perfume (but do not over do it)
- Don't fish for compliments.
- Accept compliments with a polite 'thank you' (rather than a I don't
think so).
- Don't say anything you'll regret in the morning.
- Try on all prom dresses, prom accessories, and prom make-up at least
a week in
- advance.
- Don't leave your date to be with your friends the whole night. He has a
lot of time
- invested in this night, make it special.
- Don't break up with your boyfriend on prom night or prom week!!
- Don't make a scene, you'll mess up your make-up from crying.
- Make sure that you thank your date for dinner, IF it was good!
- EAT YOUR DINNER...remember that the guy paid a lot of money to take you
- out to a nice dinner before Prom. He won't think you are a pig.
