Prom Story

The night started with a cool aura of excitement. Kristi and Nicole came over and we started to put the finishing touches on our prom dresses. Kristi was fixing up her hair and Nicole was rearranging her corset top, how we all squeezed into my tiny bathroom I don’t know. We were all freaking nervous, that sort of electric feeling you get when your waiting for the most glamorous prom night of your life.

We felt like princesses waiting to be carried off to the ball in a fancy carriage, the limo would be coming in ten minutes. Then the doorbell rang and we hurried down the stairs where Justin, my prom date, was waiting with a smile.

As I opened the door he said “my princess!” He was looking great in his tuxedo, clean shave (with lots of little cuts in his face – inexperience?-), perfect hair and all.

We hugged and then scurried off into the packed limo. I had known Justin since junior year and I’ve always had a crush on him. He is kind of a wild kid but that didn’t bother me.

We had started hanging out on senior year when his friend started dating Kristi, but we never hooked up, that was about to change hopefully.

I had a feeling that he had a crush on me, even though he’s a renowned flirt, I could just tell. The ride to the dance was great, we talked about how this years DJ was going to be so much better than the last one, and also about the huge prom party that was coming after the dance.

We finally arrived to the ball and we sat down to eat a fine dinner. Despite the cautious way in which Nicole ate, a green pea slipped off her fork and rolled down her cleavage, ooops! - luckily it missed her white evening dress! She rushed to the bathroom, and I came along to help her fish the slippery little rascal out, believe me it wasn’t easy. Worse of all, when I was plunking my hand in her chest Mrs. Huntinghton dashed in to the bathroom! – She froze in her steps ! – No nooo, is not what you think, I am looking for a pea. I realized then how embarrassing the situation was. But as Mrs. Huntinghton started to giggle and then laugh out loud, we all started to laugh – what a relief – Nicole prom dress was impeccable and she was happy again.

After dinner we hit the dance floor, aiming to shake that building right on down. Justin was a great dancer and we danced till our legs hurt, after a handful of songs me and the ladies decided to take a break. Justin said he’d meet us at the dinner table, and he went off to carouse with his huge group of friends. As we were relaxing I thought I saw him dancing with Veronica, a girl he had dated before.

Just then Robert, from my science class, walked up and asked me to dance. Robert is a cute guy with green eyes and rugged style, and I had seen him checking me out a few times in school.

I decided to go with it and get back into the heat of the dance floor. After a couple songs we parted and went back to our own groups. After that I danced with Justin, and he really cut loose.

After a great night of dancing we left and headed for the party at Justin’s friends’ house. The party was alive, there were almost a hundred people there, and we kept right on dancing.

But I was starting to get a bit distraught because I kept seeing Justin flirting with other girls, and not just one or two but a handful. I told Kristi and Nicole how I felt, and we talked about it for a while. Then out of the corner of my eye I saw Justin kissing some other girl! I was soooo disappointed, but there was no way I was going to let this ruin the prom night of my life, no way!

Good thing I have friends like Kristi and Nicole, they immediately swore to help me find a new cutie. As they were thinking about possible guys to hook me up with Robert walked by, looking very fine too.

Kristi’s eyes lit up and she asked me what I thought about Rob, I told her that I didn’t know, but I admitted that he was handsome and could really groove on the dance floor.

That was all Kristi needed to hear and she got up and walked over to him, she started chatting with him and me and Nicole walked up as nonchalantly as we could. He looked happy to see me and we all started to talk about the music that was playing loudly in the background. It turns out that Robert loves rock and roll music, my favorite. We ended up losing track of time and talking for hours.

We went outside together to get some air when he told me how he had always had a crush on me. I had no idea, I was so surprised, and with that he seized the moment and laid a big kiss on me! That crafty schoolboy!

I must say it was a good kiss though, and I asked him for another hehe, and well, the rest is prom history.
