QuinceaneraQuinceaneraAncient American civilizations, like the Aztecs, did not consider a girl as a full member of the tribal society until she was 15 years of age. In later years this tradition became Christianized by the advent of the Conquistadores. Nowadays is still followed by Catholic families. This rite of passage is known as The Quinceanera. The young girl, at age 15, makes her celebration before society and the Church. Is the celebration of transition from child to adult. Thus this event has become the most important and memorable ritual for every young Hispanic girl. A year before the preparations begin, is almost like a wedding. The list of guests, the menu and flowers, invitations and much more. Of course one of the most important things is the selection of the Quinceanera Dress, and elaborated and sweet ball gown in pastel colors. At Prom Party Dress we carry a great selection of Quinceanera dresses. The Quinceanera has to choose 14 girls (usually her friends) which represent 14 years of her life, being herself the representation of her 15th year. Also male (boys) participate as escorts to the girls, usually in tuxedos. The couples then start practicing dancing a Waltz, the traditional Quinceanera dance. When the Party day arrives...... After mass, the Quinceanera walks out of the Church followed by her full escort of girls in fancy party dresses and boys in tuxedos. And they go to the reception, where a toast and a big cake is waiting for her. After the toast the traditional dance starts, is the grand entrance of the Quinceanera to adulthood. |
